LGPS Incorrect statements.

  • Xylophone, thanks for replying constructively.  I will check my facts, statements, before confirming, but I believe I was receiving an annual statement of deferred benefits .  Six years ago I was working for Hounslow Council, but before I left to take early retirement, they issued a statement which showed what I was entitled to.  For the last six years I was receiving deferred benefit statements.  Hounslow looked after my pension, then Capita, before WYPF in 2018 I believe.

But what about your statements before then? Surely you must get an annual pension statement as an active member while working for the council? It might be worth sitting down and work out how much you are entitled to based on your own information as well.

    .
Unfortunately a spot of googling has uncovered nothing on Capita’s administration of Hounslow’s LGPS, but Barnet also moved their LGPS admin to WYPF following what an East Finchley councillor described as a “litany of failure”.

“A blunder by Capita payroll saw benefits overstated on annual statements sent to 1,660 members of the pension scheme, according to the report.

It also reveals five people had their pensions overpaid since they attained guaranteed minimum pension age, meaning funds will have to be paid back. Meanwhile, seven pensioners were underpaid.”

My question wasn't rhetorical... it's still rather unclear where the overstatement of your pension started - the original statement of deferred benefits (which would typically have led to the next 6 years of deferred ABSs being wrong too), the outsourcing of the admin to Capita, or the outsourcing of the admin to WYPF. Each of the original Hounslow in house team, Capita, and WYPF use/used different administration software, so your record would have been subject to two data migration projects over time.
