Updated: It was a glitch in the lender's website!
Options
I recently used the MSE service to find a loan. The results came back, along with a notice that said (for a few providers),
"Guaranteed rate
2.8% APR
"Guaranteed rate
2.8% APR
We’ve got them to guarantee this loan rate. If you’re accepted, this is the rate you will get"
On applying through the link, I end up with an offer of... 5.9%. And, as the provider has just done a credit check, I'm unable to go elsewhere as the credit check agency believes I'm trying to apply for multiple loans at once.
UPDATE:
I initially thought this was a problem with MSE, as I called the lender and they said, "we never give out guaranteed rates to comparison sites."
On re-applying with the same lender, I get the originally promised rate. So it was clearly a glitch in the lender's website, not a problem with MSE.

I've tweeted Martin directly asking him to remove this false information.
your credit file obviously contains information you didnt or wasn't asked during application0 -

In fact, going through the application process again resulted in being given the rate I was initially promised. So it seems it was a glitch in the lender's application checking service.
To which end, I'll modify the original post (if I can).0 -
That is good that you got it sorted. Was it Nationwide by any chance?0
