Any help with jbw enforcement? Please!

Options
Hi

We moved to our new address 14mths ago, and I recently got a letter from the above bailiffs, saying they're taking the matter of collection into their hands, regarding an outstanding PCN from our previous address.

There's no details of the PCN - not the number, the date of the contravention, the place.. NOTHING!

When I tried to call them on Friday, I just kept being fed back into the same automated message, unable to speak to anyone. When I tried to view the details on their webpage, I was asked to enter the creditor ref AND the jbw ref. There is only 1 ref on the letter, which they call the 'customer ID'.

Who are these people and should I be worried??!!

Thanks

EXCELLENT advice from Herbie - but, as stated, you need to act without delay. JBW are a particularly good example of all that is wrong in the 'bailiff' profession and are not known for their compassion.

  • WIll the Bailiff have access to the the DVLA records so he knows the car make and model?
If not will it be worthwhile parking your car around the corner until this is sorted?

Thanks to all who've replied. I'll phone the company again in the morning and can only hope that they've sorted out whatever was wrong with the phone system on Friday, as I couldn't actually speak to anyone!

I'll let you know how I get on...

    Hi Herbie

I can't get hold of jbw on the phone! I've tried all the options on their recorded message, but no-one is picking up! How can I get my PCN number???

    Thanks again

    Hi Herbie

Thanks again for your advice. I've followed all the steps you've detailed and now feel like an expert myself on bailiffs! What a palaver!

P.S. I just spoke to one of them on the phone, trying to ascertain the fees so far (and have since made a written request) and the guy said 'just send us the paperwork, with the payment...' - yeah right! As if......!!!

Well done, jm - keep us informed of the final outcome.

    What has happened to JBW?

Their phone lines are out of order and their website is not working.

Very interesting, PV. I know what I would like to think may have happened to them.

Perhaps they have, finally, gotten a taste of their own medicine.

I know there was supposed to be a trial in the High Court between JBW and Bailiff Watchdog Ltd. JBW were alleging defamation.

Anyone know what happened in that case?
  • Herbie21,

Thanks for your informative and very helpful post.

I had the same situation as the original poster, whereby Southwark Council had issued a PCN against a vehicle I had sold 2 months previously, so I had no notices or letters until Friday when JBW sent a 'Notice of Removal' to me. (funny how they couldn't find my correct address for the 2 years, until they send the final demand eh?)

With any luck your post above will have the desired effect of them ceasing to hound me for a debt which is not mine!

    Thanks again
