If you have been working in retail and spending lots of time talking to and helping customers than you should be ok working in CS/Helpdesk jobs. It's just that it will be at the end of a phone rather than in person.
Have faith in yourself and just go for it.0 -
It's really an impossible question to answer. Just like any other type of employment there will be good and bad setups. If there is a specific company you can name people may have personal experience they can share. The basics are the ability to stay calm under pressure, have a good phone manner and be a good listener. If you are both of those there's every chance you would be OK at the job.0

Fairly easy to get if you are confident about a phone and in some instances target driven/enjoy getting results.
To get past targets, I just tell myself it is what the country needs, it’s gets me through the day, this time last year I was in admin and taking payments by phone so call/contact centre jobs are easy to get.
In my sales job on the phone which has been the highest paid whilst it might seem babyish - my Manager revealed recently the one thing that worried was getting someone in who wouldn’t like having to pick up the phone whether to dial a number of answer a call.
That said I’ve been to a couple of contact centre job interviews/offers to find colleagues rather much younger in these times.
It just about finding the balance and right company/customer audience for you.0 -
Some telesale jobs look really terrible, cold-calling prospects to try to flog some shady product. Also being the customer complaints operator could get depressing. So it would pay to be picky about what exactly you want and with a reputable company.0
