Hi all, so ive been paying a rossendales debt since 2013 for council tax debt. £20 per month. I recently changed banks and only just realised my rossendales DD hasn't been carried over. I've rang rossendales to set it back up but they don't have my address on record and my customer number doesn't exist?! Now I'm confused because I know I definitely still owe money and where has my money been going? Also (please don't judge) I moved house and failed to tell them but still continued continued to pay the debt, so I don't even know if they've been sending me letters. I spoke to a woman who said she can't find me but will pass me onto the council tax dept see if they can but it keeps cutting me off!😡
Now I really dont know what to do as I'm frightened to death of getting a CCJ. It's been 4 months since I last paid. What do I? Thanks

If you have any statements from your old bank, there will be a direct debit reference number. Perhaps Rossendales could locate you with that.0

You don't get a ccj on council tax debt.
Take Rossendales out of the loop for now.
The money still owing (if any) is owed to the council, not Rossendales. If you can't get through on the phone, try emailing the council or check their website to see if they have a secure messaging system.0 -

I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
