......too bad they took it bad. Good luck and I'm sure you will look back and see you made the right decision.
Thanks happyc84. You're right, looking back now, aside from my lack of experience,  there were a few red flags that I ignored along the way. The company and environment were not really the right fit for me,  but I guess that's something that you can never really know until you've actually started the job.

.....The manager sounds very unprofessional, so perhaps you had a lucky escape!
I agree kimwp. Even though some of my other colleagues wished me the best of luck and said that they were sorry that the role didn't work out,  that conversation with my manager left me feeling rather humiliated and berated, particularly as I was then excluded from any further meetings with any of my project team.

Perhaps he was worried that I would say something negative to other people that would reflect on him? That certainly wouldn't have been the case as I remained professional at all times, without being negative. I had been in a couple of meetings where other colleagues within the business were being openly discussed and complained about in a way which made me feel rather uncomfortable. That seemed to me like an insight into the culture of working there.

Maybe your manager reacted like that because they were annoyed that you lied on your CV and, probably, at the interview as well.  They have now got to go through the whole process again.

You did, however, make the right decision to resign IMO.

Interesting point of view... If anything it showed the opposite (hopeless environment that was a chance to shine, the only true 'liars' being the employer who hired on completely false pretences). But I can empathise with the OP not feeling able to brazen it out.
