O/S Daily Monday 7 June 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and I'm enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Sunny and cloudy start to the day, sunshine and showers forecast for us.
Lunch yesterday was a late one but was Italian Seasoned Chicken with dumplings - lovely it was too, although I have to follow a recipe and the user manual for the ninja till I really get used to all it's different settings and functions! Dinner tonight will be either fish or salad.
We got done the jobs we wanted at the family members house yesterday.
Back to work today - the last few Monday and Tuesday's have been really busy - we'll see.
I have a small load to peg out - I'll take a gamble that it will dry and stay that way.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Another lovely morning, my big winter work coat is on the line, second time I've washed it ready to put it away! Another load in as I sorted through all the summer stuff, just giving it a freshen up.
Got lots done in the garden yesterday, took all the turves to the tip where I widened the border, glad it's gone as I think it would have been about September before I could feed it into the brown bin it's so heavy.
Glad you had help and wine Gers, hope you made headway and good luck with the Estate Agent today.
Thinking of the poorlies.
Take care. XX10 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
I have been MIA for a few days as I simply had nothing to say, and reading back, I see that I missed nanny's birthday so very belated birthday wishes.
I bought myself a very solid birdtable which was a huge hit with the squirrels and fat pigeons but this morning the small birds have decided that this is no longer a dangerous foreign object and some of them have bravely ventured on it. There is a magpie on it now, huge fat thing.
The sun is shining after a wet day and I can see what a difference the rain has made especially to the weeds.
I have no interesting plans today, might venture out for a little walk.
Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back11 -
Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC.Hello AOD, good to see you.Gers glad to read that you've had a good weekend , and got so much done - it's so much easier with help. (and wine)!Snoozer, soorry to read that you've been ill - hope you're on the mend now.Glad you had a nice birthday Nanny.DP1, your DD gets about a bit!I meant to post yesterday but somehow I didn't, nothing exciting happened anyway. We are going away today in the caravan for a few days, not far, just up to the Northumberland coast. It'll be nice though, especially if it keeps fine.Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of the poorly people, hope the warmer weather helps your hands a bit Nels.Take care folks11

Morning everyone.Yesterday was another day of clearing out. Mark left mid-morning so I had a wee lie down for half an hour but couldn't really rest so did some sorting out of the art materials. There were lots of wee bottles with odd liquids in so all that has been decanted. Alan arrived later and simply powered through two more cupboards. We did a tip run again with paper and cardboard, umpteen big tubes especially. There's a couple of places to go still. The kitchen alcove shelves and then to the side of them at the very top there's an odd inset which also has stuff in it, that's an Alan job! I'll deal with the one remaining cupboard and under the kitchen sink. There's a growing pile of full black bags ready for when I bring in a clearance company.
Today I have BHF coming to collect three TVs and two PVRs so I've labelled them all to match the remotes to each one. Also I've got an estate agent coming and am expecting a delivery later on.It's very dull outside compared to yesterday. I've a thick throat which is how my hay fever shows itself, I've already taken an antihistamine.Nice to see you AOD, it's good that the wee birdies are feeding again. 😀Happy Monday to all.10 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It started off sunny and bright but now cloudy. I've stopped believing the forecast as they keep lying! Yesterday was supposed to be cloudy with drizzle come tea-time. But no, it was the best part of the day and no much needed rain fell.
No plans for today - well it's a rare occurrence when there is these days! I decided the broken G-Tech was past redemption and, in view of it's advanced years, not worth forking out to have it repaired, so I ordered a new vac which was delivered yesterday. I'm having a change this time and trying out a Vax Blade Pet (also cordless) so I might have a play with that today if I can bear the excitement. An initial shove up and down the hall yesterday gave it 10/10 for the cat hairs test!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies and those with worries and woes. SNOOZER I hope you are now on the mend. GERS you sound to have been whizzing through the jobs this weekend. It makes such a difference having someone there to share the toil. Have a good day folks and take care x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning all. I saw something I've never seen in six years yesterday in the garden...a squirrel! Yes, I know it's probably unremarkable to most, but that's the first time, it was a grey one though and I didn't even think of squirrel pie as a first response. It was of a size though so it might have stretched to a pie for two...The runners are out, the tomatoes potted on, just waiting on the cucumbers and courgettes to get bigger so they can go out too. I'm not doing anything today,I made some burger type things last night and coleslaw and there's enough to cook and eat tonight as well. When OH comes home there's a cat flap to install and he can go to the bike shop to organise his bike being electrified. There's a couple of loads of washing to do, normal clothes and a musty smelling duvet cover and I might hoover upstairs. Other than that, it's going to be a definite nap on the sofa day.Gers, good to hear you're doing at your own pace and have some help. Scarlet, enjoy your time away. AOD, also good to hear you no longer live in the world of sog. TA, not such great news about the boiler but at least it's fixed for now. Ruby, good to hear you and Monna have now met over the water
snoozer, get well soon! Right, I'm off the wrangle the washing and show the pegs who's boss, have a good day if you can!

Morning everyone
Back to work for me today but not till lunchtime. Only 6 weeks till the next holidays, so can't complain really!
Scarlet Ribbons - Yes DD does get about - she's back home to Germany today and back to work tomorrow. She's really enjoyed Barcelona - it was her 2nd time there as she and I went a few years ago, but it was her friend's first visit.
Enjoy your trip to Northumberland - hopefully the sun will keep shining for you...it's been beautiful weather for the past week.
Youngest DD and I took little one to a park just over the Scottish border yesterday. It was late afternoon and there was no one else there. It's a newish park with lots of equipment and she had a great time. DD had packed us a picnic and little one loved that too - how she laughed when she bit into a cherry tomato and it squirted all over my white t shirt!
Well I'd better move myself and get some jobs done. Hope everyone has a good day

Morning all
Its a bit dull and overcast here this morning but meant to brighten up and be nice later I have a wash on the go which can be hung out.
Will get the dogs to the park later and hopefully see my dog walking friend I did not see her last week as the dog she walks was on holiday with his family so we will have a lot to catch up on.
DW needs emptying and a quick clean through, I hoovered through yesterday but with the warm weather and the doors being open and dogs and people coming and going it needs doing again.
I spent some time in the garden yesterday just general tidying and sorting out so its looking nice out there.
Gers you are doing so well but please take some time for yourself xxx
Nels I hope your hands are a bit better xx
Have good days all xxx10 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Gers your weekend help will have given you a much needed hand, keep at it girl!!
A sunny morning, it was dull first thing yesterday but the sun did break through and then late afternoon it rained, so no watering last night.
Laundry in the washer, it will dry on the line. DB is off out to the garden before it gets too hot.
chicken left from last night for supper tonight, with crumble for dessert. Short but sweet today.6
