Hi,
We purchased a house in 2020 and it has a large side garden, 2m of which is service strip. It is basically the last 2m of our garden and is within our demised premises on the site map. We have been told we can't touch it but we are being tortured by kids on our property and cars driving over it. Is there anything we can do?

Fence it off and see what happens? The worst thing that could happen is someone pulls the fence up.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0

Plant it with thorns, roses and holly are ideal!0

Have you got a plan and photo.
Who told you you can't touch it? Why? When?
Is it the same for other properties along the street?0 -
Does a service strip not just mean the part of your garden where all the gas, water, electricity etc enters the house from the road? Such that it is your garden but is the part which will get dug up if there is ever a problem?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

I have a similar service strip in Ards and have owned the house from new, 24 yrs. I was told I could plant on it so long as they were shallow rooted plants. I did this but over the years saw all the service providers, including new ones like gas and broadband dig up the road and never come near my service strip. 3 years ago I moved my fence and claimed it within my own grounds. I have had no problems and if anyone ever does want access to it I can take off a fence panel. If you do fence just make sure you aren't blocking a sight line for traffic turning a corner.1
