claiming whilst waiting for a job to start

Hiya, I was made redundant last September been job searching since. I have been lucky enough to be able to live off my savings, but I only have enough until the end of August. I have a potential job waiting for me and that starts September. The question is would I be entitled to to any help from Universal Credit if I already have a job waiting, just to tide me over?

Universal credit works by taking into account what earnings you have during an assessment period, so your likely to be entitled whilst waiting for the first pay and as long as your not over the savings thresholds. Have you tried an entitlement calculator?0

I just have, thanks for the suggestion, it says I am entitled, so that's good. I might just do it now to be honest then it's not going to be an issue later on.MarkN88 said:Universal credit works by taking into account what earnings you have during an assessment period, so your likely to be entitled whilst waiting for the first pay and as long as your not over the savings thresholds. If you are claiming UC on the basis that you are unemployed, you should continue your job search. Just having the potential of a job in September doesn't mean you can sit back and wait for it to materialise. Perhaps you were intending to continue looking but that wasn't clear in your first post in this thread.0
