I recycle where I can and I am a strong supporter of Freegle who try to keep useable items out of landfill but I do get discouraged when I see how others behave.
It is particularly the young folk round here that are so wasteful, rubbish is strewn all over and even where there is a bin to put it in, they still seem to prefer to throw things on the ground. Everything has to be brand new and no effort seems to be made to make things last, it's just throw it away and get another new one.
    Even food gets thrown anywhere.
I know it's easy to blame a certain group but here it is definitely the under 25 group down to even the 4/5 year old that care nothing for the space around them or where the world is going.

It's not over production of things that will kill this planet it is over production of humans that will finish it off.
  • I rarely look at how to save money by switching energy suppliers - I want a supplier that deals with 100% renewable electricity, I do not want to be supporting fossil fuels or nuclear. We have been with our supplier "Good Energy" for more years than I care to remember. I don't know how much we could save by switching.

I find this incredibly surprising as it's often the younger people (teenagers in particular) who I hear talking about the importance of looking after the environment and often saying that they feel the older generations aren't doing enough. Under 25s are definitely more likely to be vegan, talk about sustainability and join environmental campaigns in my experience. My own age group (late 30s-40s) I often hear talking about how the youngsters these days need to lighten up! Obviously "young people" aren't a homogenous group, but it's interesting if there are two sets at two such extreme ends of the spectrum - there's obviously something more complex than just age group at work.
