Homebase are advertising an Air Cooler today at a third off down to 39.99.
I am thinking about getting one for these hot nights that we are going to get.
Does anyone know anything about them. Do they work etc. sorry cant give a model no or any info as there isnt any in the ad and i cant find them on their website.
I have read about the mobile a/c units and have read they are noisy as well as being a lot more money.
thanks in advance

Evening! I'm not sure whether it's going to be up to scratch, but from Monday (13th), Lidl will be selling an Oscillating Tower Fan for £9.99. Have a look HERE.
I'll certainly be getting one on Monday...not sure whether they'll be selling in a flash, but if this looks of interest, I'd get down to Lidl as soon as poss on Monday morning.
Hope that helps!
* Comes with a 3 year warranty too!0 -

Thanks for that but it is only a fan and not an air cooler0 -
By it's very nature, a fan doesn't cool air.0

Sorry, a fan does nothing except move air about. The energy used by the fan does not cool the air. You feel cooler in the same way that a breeze outside cools. This increases the perspiration removal rate.
If the Air Cooler is that cheap it will not be an A/C unit. It will involve the use of water evaporation to cool the air slightly. They work by drawing in air, pass it through water and then blow cool air into the room. These units can be portable, fixed or even a ducted system and will work best when they are placed in front of a door or window. They also do their best work in dry climates. The bigger units are not really suitable in an area where water usage is an issue.
Actual A/C units will be over £200 for the smallest unit. You are right that cheap units will be noisier than dearer units.
I live in a hot climate (Middle East) so cooling is not a luxury!0 -

Congratulations! You're the best 'back-up' a poster could ever have!
* But really, thanks for taking the time out to tear me a new one and not taking the time to thank me for my intentions.0 -
