Now, that's a good point. I was in the RTZ scheme, and I do remember contracting out being mentioned, but I'm pretty sure I didn't. Someone told me it was better not to. I was young and carefree, so don't remember it too well. Definitely no cope figure ever shown on the forecast site. That pension is now with Willis towers Watson.xylophone said:Was never contracted out,Never at all? Not even when you were with RTZ?
Is a COPE shown on your forecast?
The salary comparison is probably about right. I'm on about 50k now. Well would be if I didn't salary sacrifice.0 -
If RTZ was a contracted out salary related scheme and you were a member, you would have had no choice about whether or not you contracted out.
Was it a COSR?
If so, when were you a member?0 -

Is this the RTZ?
Or another DB pension?

That's the RTZ one. But I've definitely no cope figure. All my full years just say full years. No mention of anything else. Maybe there were two versions in the scheme? Maybe staff were in something different, I was weekly paid shop floor bod. I worked there 1979 to 1990. But I think you had to wait two years before you could join the pension scheme.xylophone said:https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/78237058#Comment_78237058Full UK state, plus a UK DB which should pay approx £3,000 per year.Is this the RTZ?

I see that this is old ground.

Did WTW indicate that you have a GMP?
If so, one would expect a COPE in your pension forecast.

No. WTW have never mentioned GMP. They don't send annual statements. They send a generic newsletter, and they sent me a transfer value and related paperwork when I requested it a few years ago. That's the only time I've ever seen the pension figures that it's meant to pay from age 65.xylophone said:I see that this is old ground.

That COPE amount statement does not appear on the front page. You have to click on the link in the "You've been in a contracted-out pension scheme" statement so you need to look for that.

You mention that you worked for RTZ between 1979 and 1990.
You stated that you had to be employed for two years before becoming eligible for membership of the pension scheme.
It would appear therefore that you were a member of the Scheme between 1981 and 1990.
It seems that the pension was a final salary related defined benefit pension scheme.
Was it a Contracted Out Salary Related Pension Scheme?
If so, your deferred pension should have been split on leaving into
Pre 88 GMP
Post 88 GMP
Excess.
There is a strong likelihood that the Scheme was "contracted out" - you can check with WTW who should certainly know.0
