Selling Photos - doable without a DSLR or iPhone?

Just been looking at MSE article on selling photos for a spot of extra cash. Certainly sounds attractive, I've got a drive full of photos, surely a couple must be decent enough? - maybe, maybe not. But got to be worth a sift through to pick the best ones. Most options listed seem to only accept DLSR pics or the Stockimo only has an iPhone offering and no Andriod option. :-(
Has any had any success with non-DSLR camera's or Android apps?

Do you mean for use as stock photos?
I have sold a couple of images to news organisations over the years, right (or wrong) place, right time, taken on a phone. The biggest stock photo site is iStock which is owned by Getty, they accept pictures taken on any device that meet their requirements and are reviewed for quality.

Yes, selling pics for use as stock images. I seem to have a lot of random photos of static objects, flowers, nature, animals, insects etc, figured the best ones might be desirable to others. I have now signed up for Shutterstock and uploaded half a dozen for review, will have to see if they meet the grade...
I do have a GoPro Hero 9 I use for a spot of YouTubing, and I see they accept submissions of stock video, so I'll have to investigate that angle too.

Hi Arfa, just wondering how you got on with Shutterstock and selling stock photos - did you get anywhere?
  • Thank goodness you can upload files these days. In the old days I remember submitting 35mm slides. Often never returned when requested or scratched!

Nah, never did earn anything. TBH I only really dipped my toe in the water and didn't upload masses of photos, mainly because my photography skills aren't really there and I didn't have many decent pics when I was really critical about it. I suspect you'd have to have some really good snaps and upload a shed load to get anything back.

On the other hand payments then were far higher and some of my highest payments were compensation payments when someone lost a slide.
