Some food/cooking advice please...

So in the first lockdown last year my mum was shielding and receiving the food boxes each week.

There were a couple items she received she said she would never use so she passed them on to me. They are the large Maggi tomato sauce tins(she hates tomatoes and anything tomato related!).

Now, I'm wondering if i could use these to make tomato soup? I've had a look on the tin and on the Maggi/Nestle professional website and it seems like the right consistency and has all the necessary ingredients for a soup, just a couple little extras and I'm thinking I'll have the perfect soup!

Any advice?

Thank you in advance!

Is this the tin you mean? Maggi Rich & Rustic Tomato Sauce | Ocado
I also looked on the Maggi site but couldn't find any tins of tomato sauce on there so I'm just checking that we're talking about the same thing before I launch off into any culinary flights of fancy.

The great thing about soup is its a very forgiving dish. Anything goes and so do tinned tomatoes if you so decree it.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

Yes that is the one I'm on about!

I have about 5 or 6 Tins of the stuff but I just wanna use one and do a trial run first and if successful I shall use the rest and make a big batch.

Well it actually says on the site that it is a
    perfect, versatile base for...
    Pizza and pasta dishes
    Curries and tagines
    Soups and casseroles

And the ingredients list confirms that.  I think you could use it for anything that calls for tomatoes and onions/garlic.  For soup you might want to add a stock cube and maybe some water depending on how thick the sauce is, but apart from that allez-y!

Ah I saw the bit about pasta and curry dishes but missed the rest haha!

Will whip out the slow cooker and all my Tins(and stock cubes and other bits and bobs) first thing in the morning and whizz up a massive batch I think! :D

    Hi
If you google tomato soup slimming world there is a recipe. They puree canned tomatoes, can of baked beans, carrots, pickled onions. They reckon it tastes like Heinz tomato soup.

No problem with making soup if you know that's what you'll like to eat. Personally I'd make a basic pasta sauce like the ones you get in jars but healthier. As it's a big tin of tomatoes you'll need to freeze in portions whatever you choose to make.
