O/S Daily Friday 28 May 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was LO gammon with pasta in a creamy tomato sauce and veg rice - bit of a odd combo but items needed using up not throwing away. Tonight will be something and chips. I'll be having the last portion of the tomato pasta at lunch then the last bit of gammon chopped up with some mushrooms and made into the filling for an omelette and I'll have salad to go with that for dinner.
Today I have the normal "to do" list - again quite a few jobs to do, so will crack on as best I can.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's a fine start here, and quite mild for a change, no freezing cold wind thank heavens.Gers, I hope you do go home for the weekend, you need a change of scene, even a couple of days will do you good. We're popping down to DD's this morning, I need to give her her birthday present and card, it's her birthday on Sunday but they'll be at the caravan. We have 4 family birthdays today as well, one in Oz and the others here, I've sent cards of course but will be texting as well later.I went to Do*bies yesterday for coffee with two friends - we were quite excited, what a lovely change it made. It was busy as well, everyone had the same idea I think. There's washing to do today and it will dry, so I'll get it in as soon as possible., I would have done it, but my washer makes a peculiar bumping noise at the start of a wash, apparently it's quite ok, it's mentioned in the instruction book - strange I know..Anyway, it's quite loud, and in the quiet of early morning it sounds terrible and I don't want to disturb my neighbours. Our house is in a terrace and though they're solidly built Victorian houses, I don't know if they would hear it. I should arrange for one of them to listen one day . So that's the long winded explanation of why my washing's not in.Hope everyone has a good day anyway, thinking of Gers and others who are sad or poorly.Take care folks13

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another fine day forecast with a promise of us all reaching the 20's over the long w/e and even beyond! At last summer will be with us!
The usual Friday Tidy in store for this morning and maybe this afternoon I will manage to put out the bedding plants that are still languishing in the garage. There's plenty of light in there so they are not getting leggy but they are growing!
I shall be raising my cup of coffee at 9.00 a.m. joining GERS and the rest of us on here. The little trip home GERS will do you the power of good I'm sure. Have a good day the rest of you and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them, thinking as always of our poorlies and poorly loved ones. Safe journey CAMELOT and enjoy the family get-together. Take care one and all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning folks.I've been awake for hours, once this morning is over I hope to be able to relax. Thanks for the good wishes.Happy Friday to all.13

Good morning everyone
It's my Lilly's 20th birthday today but she has to work so I don't know when I will see her. I have made her a card and got her a present so at least I am ready for when she can come over.
Yesterday was a momentous day for me. On the spur of the moment, Steve wanted to take me and my grandson out for lunch so I went! We ended up at the seaside in a lovely restaurant where I had fish and chips. I was so excited to be actually out but was absolutely shattered once I got home.
Today I am having a quiet day here at home with my grandson for company. I am knitting some kittens in a lovely fluffy yarn so want to crack on with them.
I will be thinking of you Gers and your mum at 9am and raising a cup of tea to the both of you. Do go home for the weekend, it will recharge your batteries I'm sure xx
Hope you all get to enjoy your Bank Holiday weekend, take care xx11 -
Morning all
Ready to raise a glass at 9 with Gers Hope you do manage a trip home maybe you need to stop being a whirling dervish for a couple of days and take some reflection time in your home
I'll come back later hands hurt lots in the morning

Morning all. So not sunny this morning...Never mind, yesterday was heatwave enough for the moment although today is supposed to be warmer, when the clouds go away, it might be. Sowed extra seeds, did a bit of garden, I was quite busy even though when I think back today it doesnt feel like I did an awful lot. Not sure what's going on today, I can't think of anything immediate I have to get done, apart from one load of washing that can actually go on the line! woop! I think I can put my winter boots away now and get the summer ones out. I might have a look again at stuff I can get rid of, I'm conscious now that the house has to be empty for a rewire and I don't want me or the OH carting things hither and thither to storage if they don't need to be. I'm never going to be truly minimalist, especially not where kitchen equipment is concerned but maybe I can sell some of my tools that are a bit heavy duty for me now.Gers, I'll raise a mug with you in memory of parents lost...and it's nice to think of someone else using the things that your mum loved and liked. snoozer, it's just such a shame when that kind of thing happens, someone[s] trying to take advantage. I say spend it all and then no one can protest...:) Take care today, let it be injury free for all and maybe even a little bit sunny....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10

Gers just popping in to add my good wishes. I'll think of you at 9 - can't raise a cup as I'll be in nursery. Last day before half term holiday and it's forecast to be a lovely day so we'll spend most of it outside. I'm looking forward to the forecast good weather next week - fingers crossed!
Hope everyone has a good day10 -
Gers, I'll be thinking of you, I hope it all goes off smoothly.
We're back from our jaunt around the country, it was nice to see rellies we've not seen for so long, although no physical contact was had. In fact, apart from Steve's sister who we were staying with the others all stayed outside and we chatted in the lovely sunshine.
The van has had it's habitation service and is ok, which it should be after only being used once in the last 12 months. After we left though the catch on one of the drawers broke and started to come open as Steve was driving so he had to go back to have it fixed, what a pain. As a result he was a couple of hours later getting home than me.
He's off to Moorfields this morning for another follow up appointment on his eye, hopefully it's still improving. I want to get on with the neglected housework.
Have a good day and I hope all the poorlies are as well as can be expected.12 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
Gers coffee at the ready, I hope you do decide to have a couple of days at your little cottage.
Wow yesterday afternoon we sat in the garden with the sun shade up!! it was lovely to be able to sit and survey all the council own!! The sun is out this morning but its forecast to cloud over later. I need to get the plants out of the cold frame for the gardener, he is coming after lunch. I have a feeling we will be going to the nursery again, the large pots seem to have increased.
Another infection, have to take a sample down, medication was delivered yesterday, so could not start it until this morning. I am so fed up its less than a month since the last attack.
Easy supper tonight, fish and chips, with raspberry jelly for dessert.8 -
Morning all,I raised my coffee cup to you and your DMum Gers, & am thinking of you - I hope you have a better sleep tonight (hugs)Dumpling, wow, well done you, that's great!Hope your infection clears soon CsarinaI've had some yogurt for my breakfast earlier that I made in my mini instantpot yesterday. The big one cooked the gammon joint and then later I made sweet potato , chilli and coconut soup with the stock, so a busy cooking day yesterday, oh and another loaf as DS2 pinched half of one I'd sliced up- said it was for DGS- yea right
. I think he's taking the children to a trampoline activity centre later so they probably won't stay that long here after school pick ups . SM delivery shortly, better get my bags out and clear the worktop.
That's all I know folks, take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10
