Marriage allowance & interest received

Wonder if marriage allowance allowed (or advisable) in following circumstances. OH receives state pension of say £9000 and interest income of £15000. Tax, by my reckoning payable on £5500 (allowances = personal allowance 12500 + first 5000 of investment income (no dividends) + first 1000 of investment income @ 0%).
My 'only income' is £15000 interest. No earned income or pension received. Does full personal allowance have to be deducted from my income or could £1260 re marriage allowance be transferred to OH, to reduce OH's tax liability? My tax liability being Nil in either scenario??
Many thanks in advance.

As neither of you are liable to higher rate tax then either of you could successfully apply for Marriage Allowance.
If you applied you would get a reduced Personal Allowance of £11,310 and would be liable to tax on £3,690. All of which would be taxed at the savings starter rate of 0%.
Your spouse would have a Personal Allowance of £12,570 and be liable to tax on £11,430.
£6,000 taxed at 0% (savings starter rate and savings nil rate)
£5,430 taxed at 20% = £1086
The Marriage Allowance tax credit of £252 will reduce the tax actually payable to £834
All figures relate to the current tax year and assume you aren't Scottish resident for tax purposes.1
