15.5 hour shift - Break Entitlement

15.5 hours is a long day - was told 30 mins break is all that is allowed...Can’t find any other pieces about this. I know for 12 hours 30 mins is the law. Question is what about 15.5 hrs, what breaks are allowed, this is nightshift and then starting another 4 hr shift 8.5 hours after

The law only says you are entitled to one 20 minute break if you work 6 hours or more.
The law also says you have the right to 11 hours rest between working days. Although this does not apply if you are changing shifts (but they should make every effort to give you the 11 hours where possible).
You may also be entitled to more breaks if there is a health and safety issue - such as doing monotonous work on a production line.
30 minutes is only the law for those aged under 18 working over 4.5 hours.
Of course your employer can choose to offer you more breaks than the legal minimum if they choose.0 -
What line of work are you in - there are differences in the working time directive for shift work in some settings such as care when compensatory rest applies instead of the 11 hours rest break. For example. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

That seems to fall under the compensatory rest rules, according to ACAS.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Wow 15.5 hours and 30 mins - that’s not good and compensatory rest, I understand that means if your getting only 8.5 hours between finishing night shift and then starting a late afternoon shift. 11 hours is the law and anything less is compensatory rest to be made up - Not sure our operations manager and supervisor have looked into this. Was told the building admin was not happy about being asked about taking breaks. I understand he is busy but always seems to be doing nothing and is being an ars3
Guessing if I’m not getting the response with regards to proper organisation then the people I’m working with are making themselves comfortable at the expense of another person and I’m an contracted worker...that’s what this stinks of. Sad reflection of the UK’s Victorian attitudes in 2020 and you’d think you have rights but by the time you have accessed those rights the damage has been done and it’s too late. Oh well if this carries on I always have another job lined up and waiting 👍0
