Hi,
I have 4 old style loans from 94-97 which I have never repaid due to not meeting the threshold. This year the payslips I submitted did show I had gone over the threshold due to temporary enhanced rates of NHS pay during the pandemic. I was advised to submit my P60 which indicates I am under the threshold but they have upheld the non deferment decision. What can I do? Please help.

  • Were you paid, in total, over the threshold, over the course of the tax year or not?
If not, then appeal, if you were, pay your share

No I was not over the threshold for the tax year, they are basing their decision on 3 months payslips only. I have appealed and they have stood by their decision. The only recourse I had was to lodge a complaint about my experience.
  • Then complain, I found the SLC people to be decent and understanding when I spoke to them last time
Or worst case, pay then reclaim it using the MSE Guide
