I've recently excepted a new job on a different department within the NHS trust I work for and they wanted to run an id check so I provided them with a bank statement, council tax bill, marriage certificate and a signed photo by a council lawyer and a cover note signed by the lawyer. I have my passport but its over a year out of date so I ordered a new one but due to covid its delayed so can they use my old one due to this delay to code my id check

If you are not a UK national they may be limited in what they can accept. Many people don't have a passport, current or otherwise, so other proof of identity can be accepted in some circumstances.

Just wait till they reply, we could say yes and they could say no or vice versa. Only what they will accept is relevant.Amo1977 said:I've try calling but can't get through to them so I've sent emails but still waiting on a replyForty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I don't really see why a genuine but expired document like a passport can't be proof of identity. It's not like you cease to be who you are when your passport expires.
However, as a former NHS manager myself, nothing would surprise me - even if you've worked there forever.0 -
It depends on how they do the checks - if they use a third party verification service then it may not be able to check expired documents.Manxman_in_exile said:I don't really see why a genuine but expired document like a passport can't be proof of identity. Do you have a driving licence? If so that would probably work if they actually need ID, however if they are looking for right to work in the UK then it won't!
I would not be too worried about the passport - if you have applied to renew yours then it probably won't take too long - I know that they have warnings saying it may be up to 10 weeks but they are actually taking a bit under 2 weeks at the moment, (assuming UK passport) https://www.passportwaitingtime.co.uk/
I did mine recently and it took 10 days, including weekends. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
