Portable speakers and charger for new 3G ipod nano

I am just about to buy a new ipod nano 8gb for my other half for Christmas. I would like to buy some portable speakers for it and also some means of charging it so he is able to take it with him on holiday. From what I have found, you can get combined speakers and docking systems which also charge the ipod which would save me having to buy a separate charger. Can't seem to find one which says it fits the new ipod nano though. Don't really understand it all so am now v confused. Wanting some reasonably cheap portable speakers (ideally black), would it work out less expensive to look for a combined speaker and charger and if so can anyone recommend a particular one? The charger alone seems to be about £20 - is this correct?
Thank you very much.

Aldi have one this week for £24.99, it says compatible with the latest ipods. Might be worth a look if you have an Aldi store close by.

Thanks. This might seem like a silly question but do all docking stations charge ipods from the mains? I have seen a couple of speaker docking stations but am unsure whether they are just speakers or if they will also charge. Any help would be most appreciated.0

No, not all docking stations charge as well.
We made this mistake last year when we bought a speaker docking station from Wilkinsons for our daughter for Christmas. I thought it would charge the ipod whilst playing but it doesn't and she has to remove her ipod and charge it via her pc or the mains charger which came with the ipod.0 -
Wanted just that, plus alarm clock, plus had to be battery operated as well as mains operated so could be used on the move.
Found great system at John Lewis for £60 ish -

The only one that seemed to cover all my options, not found under ipod speakers, but under radios. I have heard it, and the sound quality is very good.0 -
Plus John Lewis have a £10 voucher listed here somewhere.Or it might be £50

Thank you all very much for your helpful replies. Pjala - does the docking station/clock that you bought charge the ipod as can't see this mentioned under specification? When looking for compatibility can I assume that when it says compatible with ipod this includes the 3rd generation nano or should I look for one that specifically says compatible with nano.
Thank you.0
