Working from home proof for mortgage?

Apologies if this has already been asked elsewhere - do lenders require proof you can work from home permanently if you're outside of commutable distance to the office? We're getting everything ready for a mortgage application next week and my job is secure WFH but I'm worried my employer might scupper our chances as they're only ever only willing to give salary and position details for any type of reference.

I've not been asked for it but its a different process with brokers as we take most of the liability off the lenders so they may just expect that we would check this out. Occasionally I get asked about distance from work and I just send a memo back saying client is wfh and they tick that requirement off.

If you have been employed by a London company and living in Cheshire/Plymouth for a few years now and buying in the same region, they may not question it.Conversely, if you are living+working in London at present and looking to buy in Cheshire/Plymouth, they might question the practicalities and may require an employer confirmation that you are ok WFH.It also depends on the specific lender and how much common sense they use while underwriting. Some are remarkably oblivious of how desk-based working practices have changed since covid
