Ordered my Beer52 "MSE Clearance" box last week. Account debited the following day. Order email received but no order number. Order isn't showing in order history. No response from support team.
Anyone else in this position, and was it a scam?

Me too, glad to know I'm not the only one!
  • I have the same problem.  I rang Beer52 on 28 May.  I was told that my delivery had been sent from one Beer52 warehouse to another Beer52 warehouse in error.  I was told that my order should arrive by 1 June but if it did not arrive by then, I should contact Beer 52 for a refund and was given an email address to contact them.  I do wonder why I was given this email address.  Is it because they know that the beer order has no chance of being delivered?  I will report back on Tuesday.

Got mine okay, eventually -- nothing showed in the account page initially, either.  A genuine good deal.  Hopefully yours will come through
  • The beer did not arrive on Tuesday so I emailed Beer52 at the address that had been given but did not receive a reply.  I rang them today, Friday, and was initially told that a replacement box was being requested and that there would be a redelivery (a strange term since there was no original delivery). They rang back a few minutes later to say there were no more MSE offer cases left and that I would be refunded.

    Not with a barge pole!

    Buyer beware!
After receiving 6 beers I phoned up Beer52 to cancel the automatic rolling subscription. (That was the only way to do it, not possible by email or website.)
After a couple of days I got lucky and it was supposedly cancelled.
A few weeks later a courier arrived with another box of beers, (lucky I was at home) and I told him to return them. I looked at my account and saw the money had been taken out.
Got on the phone again and eventually got through.
They said they were not aware that the beers had been returned and after giving me the hard sell, eventually gave me the money back.
I had tried going to the bank to get the money back but you pay by card and not Direct Debit, so the only way to get out is by phone.
There's a new offer on MSE that's supposedly an absolute one-off, no subscription. Hmm, I wouldn't trust them with a barge-pole, buyer beware!
If however, you like paying £12 a liter for good/bad/indifferent beer go ahead. Don't say you haven't been warned.
You just might get a box of beers delivered 4 weeks after the first one.
I can't believe the positive reviews on Trust Pilot, there's something dead suss there.

Avoid this company like the plague!

I signed up for the wine offer, and received them ok. However, decided that the subscription was actually quite poor value for fairly bog standard wine so attempted to cancel. I couldn't get through by phone (the only option) as it would leave you holding for 25 mins and then cut you off. After several attempts I emailed them. This was in March. After several emails back and forth with them asking for further details claiming GDPR reasons (a spurious claim), I was then charged again and got a dispatch note today. After a fairly ranty Tweet to them they now confirm that my subscription has been cancelled but as already dispatched they cannot recall and refund.

Having now seen loads of reviews saying the same, I realise the importance of checking out companies more thoroughly, so that's a lesson learned.

Although this doesn't qualify it as a subscription scam, it is more definitely very shady business practice, and seriously irresponsible when you consider that the product is alcohol!

I've seen very hit and miss comments about Beer52.

Personally, I've had pretty good service from them. Called to pause my subs for a few months, was on hold for a couple of minutes and they confirmed everything no problem.

I bought one of the MSE offer boxes and the contents were good value, as for short dates, most were at least a month, so I hit the hoppy IPAs first :)

On HUKD a number of people have had success cancelling their subs via email.
