Can I remortgage my mother's house?

It's a very awkward situation. There is a mass of personal circumstances behind it which really any decent human being would be willing to pass the house over to his kids. As I said an awkward situation but I understand what you're saying. The lawyer has only given the option to buy him out which really isn't an option for us. It seems as though we won't have any option but to sell which is extremely upsetting as the value of the house after comission and splitting the money leaves us probably without the option to ever set up a mortgage again.missile said:Your / mum's solicitor ought to have clearly explained your options. Perhaps you did not understand? I suggest you write and ask for his/her recommendations on the way forward.
He may not need the money, but why should he give it to his estranged family?0 -
Then the options are your mom force the sale of the house or buy your dad out.
Decency, morals and all that stuff doesn't come in to it, you need to start looking at this from a cold, hard, fact position.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0
