Mortgage and tax credit

Hello
I am applying for a mortgage and Halifax has said they can't use my child tax credit and working tax credit for my mortgage because the tax credit is under both mine and my partner's name
My partner does not work
So my question is can I split my working tax credit solely under my name as my partner does not even qualify for working tax credit as she isn't working so the amount I receive won't change if she is excluded
Obviously for child benefit is still a joint claim.
Will HMRC allow this or can I ask HMRC for a letter just under my name
Please refrain my telling me I shouldn't be buying a house if I am using my tax credit for a mortgage or why am I applying without my partner

No I'm pretty sure they wont do that, you need to claim as a couple when you live together unfortunately and your claim comes through with your working and child tax on one claim.1

Thanks would this also he the case if the child tax credit goes into our joint account and working tax credit comes directly into mine ?Jen271626 said:No I'm pretty sure they wont do that, you need to claim as a couple when you live together unfortunately and your claim comes through with your working and child tax on one claim.0 -
Yes as its the same claim but the reason they pay them into different accounts is because the working tax usually goes to the person who works and the child tax goes to the one who looks after the children as the main carer. Hopefully one of the mortgage brokers will come on and have a solution. Try posting on the mortgage broker ask me anything thread, I'm sure they'll of seen this situation before.HousingA said:

@housinga Generally speaking, you are going to run into this problem with most lenders, either at the initial documentation stage or underwriting if they ask for a copy of the letter. The names on the award letter will be expected to match the names on the mortgage application.
