Self employed grant mortgage issues

Hi people

I'm hoping someone here has more knowledge about this than the people who should know.
We are currently in the final part of our mortgage application everything has been checked we started the application on the 7th of April. HSBC asked for my 19-20 tax calculation and my 20-21 tax calculation so I called my account who very kindly rushed it through for me. Now HSBC have said they can't process any further because the 20-21 overview doesn't match the calculation. My account said it's because of the grant last year it will match once HMRC do their part. He put this explanation in writing on headed paper for HSBC but they said they won't do it until they match. So  I called HMRC who said they will put it as priority please give them 7 days it should be done by then.
After 7 days I called to say it still hasn't happened yet can they check on it please, only to be told it won't be done because it's not due to be completed until july.
HMRC are now saying HSBC shouldn't be working off of 20-21 as they aren't due to do my overview from their end till July.
Does anyone know who's in the wrong here because I don't really know where to get answers from anymore.

  • Ah that sucks. Maybe keep calling HMRC until you get to speak to someone else who might say something else.

I had a problem with my calculation and overview not matching and I called HMRC and they were absolutely rubbish. They couldn't properly explain the discrepancy but insisted they were right. Then I just happened to look at the one they had sent me in the post and that one was different and did match thankfully.

Good luck with it. Hopefully someone else comes along with a better answer for you
