Self Assessment Calculation is wrong

Anybody come across this before?
I've done my SA return online but when the calculation comes up it has the wrong total for the allowable expenses. I have multiple employments, so lots of pages. I've been through it 6 times, and got somebody else to check it and I can't see that I've made any mistakes.

I think that you will have to give us a bit more to go on. Why is it wrong? What is the difference in the allowable expenses?roseview said:IAnybody come across this before?I've done my SA return online but when the calculation comes up it has the wrong total for the allowable expenses. My allowable expenses come to a certain amount, both on my spreadsheet and when adding them up from the employment pages on my return. However, in the calculation figure at the end, the amount is £76 less than the figures I've got. None of my allowance figures are £76, nor do any of them come to that amount whether added together or taken away.

Other than rechecking that no fat fingers were involved I am not sure how we can help you.Go to ‘view your return’ and look at the employment pages and tick them off one by one as reflected on your spreadsheet.0

One clue. Employment expenses are only deductible from the earnings of that particular employment. If one of your employments had earnings of £100 and expenses of £176 the amount deductible would be £100 bringing the taxable income down to nil. You would not be able to set the unused £76 expenses against anything else..3

Fantastic! Never had the problem before as I used to get a short return and last year it clearly wasn't an issue.

Very good - wish I’d thought of that!jimmo said:One clue. Employment expenses are only deductible from the earnings of that particular employment. Very uncommon, but section 329 ITEPA 2003 is quite clear. Begs the question as to what the point of doing the job actually is, though.[Deleted User] said:
