Hello all
I am requesting CCAs. I read that you should always use postal orders instead of cheques from your current account and not sign the letter. Is this true?
Many thanks

i think its because there is a small risk they could copy your signature on the cheque to make a redacted CCA1

A copy credit agreement does not require a signature to be valid, so its a mute point really.
You can use either a cheque (if you still have them of course) or more likely, a postal order.
Again, although there is no requirement under the act to sign a CCA request, signing a letter is a matter of curtesy, and indeed good manners, it also avoids data protection issues, and won`t make one iota of difference to the validity or otherwise, of the copy agreement they should produce for you.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I prefer postal orders as I do not want a creditor to have details of my bank account0
