Natwest's Typo Caused Application To Be Rejected - What Now??

I'm in a bit of a panic.  FTB and my mortgage application was rejected for not passing the credit check.  I checked all three reports before applying and they were all flawless with an excellent rating, so this didn't make sense.  I spoke to a lovely woman at Natwest who looked into it and it turns out that on my application I put my address as 10 XXXX Road (which it is!) but when Natwest keyed it into their system to do the checks, they did so as 1 XXXX Road!  So they couldn't confirm my identity and rejected my application.  The woman was fairly certain that was the reason for the rejection, but it was too late for them to make changes and I'd need to start the application over again.

The time and frustration aside, I'm now concerned that my otherwise great credit is now damaged as I have had a mortgage application denied.  I have an appointment next week with one of their advisors to do the next application, but am worried sick in the meantime that their error is going to make it difficult to get a mortgage.  Has anyone had an experience with a lender error?  Thanks in advance!

@cdp2879 Was it rejected at DIP or full application? When we do it as a broker the same DIP is progressed to a full application and addresses don't have to be keyed in again. And did you now re-run a DIP with the correct address to see if it passes?

Thanks for responding.  It was full application stage.  I had already done the DIP with no problems  A new DIP also passed no problem (done on the phone with Natwest directly).  She could see that all of the info I put it was correct, but at their end it was keyed in wrong (she used the "keyed in as 1 XXXX" phrase).

@cdp2879 In all my years of broking, I can't say that a client has missed out on a mortgage due to having a single recent lender hard check on their credit report. You should be fine, especially if a new DIP has passed as well and has been done directly with NatWest. Hopefully they can progress the same DIP to a full app. Good luck!

All broker cases are retyped by NatWest onto another system. Don't know if the same happens to direct stuff.

@K_S, you have no idea how happy that's made me to hear.  I've been a nervous wreck.  Fingers crossed it all goes well when I speak to them next week.  Thank you!

@kingstreet Wow, that is news to me! Actually re-keyed? What a system.
