Prescription charges

If a medical prescription is ordered a week before the 60 th birthday and collected after the birthday will a charge be applicable ?

      You can get free NHS prescriptions if, at the time the prescription is dispensed, you:
    • are 60 or over

    Looks like the answer should be No.

    It's questionable. The point at which the prescription is dispensed is when the pharmacist prints it off and prepares it, which may be days before collection. The date on the medicine will be the dispensing date, which is what the system goes by.

    My prescriptions show my age.  That will obviously be at time of issue.  However if you have a prepayment plan you can buy that as you fill the prescription.  I think your best option is to take some form of proof of age when you collect your medication.

    Good point.  My thinking was that the date you fill in the declaration and sign would be pertinent.
