JB Leitch Ground Rent Demand s146 notice

Options
Hello All,

I have seen a lot of discussion on this particular firm but my circumstances is a little unique.

I am a shared owner since 2017 and have never missed a rental or service charge payment. I have received a letter addressed to my house association.

Enclosed is a demand for ~£1500 to be paid in 14 days and a s146 notice of forfeiture should the amount not be paid.

Having read the notice and letter I am not named on any part. It is only my housing association.

Does this mean the housing association has slipped up somewhere and not been paying the ground rent? It is nominal at ~£200 per year.

As I’ve received this on a Saturday I will be speaking to my housing association Monday (tomorrow).

Is my assumption correct they are to pay and not me?

Thank you!

    You cannot make any assumptions.

I had dealings with this firm recently: I telephoned in office hours; quoted the reference number; and within minutes was speaking with the person dealing with my case. Ask for full details of the amount owed and who owes it: probably they will not have these details so ask them to confirm that no charges will be added until they provide these details.
