Old Style Daily Sunday 16 May 2021

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about
everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great,
inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old
Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.
Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check
the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style
natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks.DM's carers have been and gone, gave her a good bed bath as she was semi-awake although she soon slipped back into sleep. Yesterday her friend came again to sit with her so I took the chance to have a snooze. I've been sorting out some of the paper mountain and came across a wee notebook in which she wrote down every dinner / lunch party or coffee session which she hosted. The date, the people, the food she made and the things they brought with them. In one early entry dated 1974 one guest brought a litre of whisky whilst another brought a bottle of wine. One entry startled me - all the guests brought beer and beer was drunk, I've never known my DM to drink beer!
The recordings stop in 1999 for some reason.
This afternoon DM's friend is coming again for an hour or so. My friend Alan is also coming to visit me for a wee while. I've downloaded a new book from Audible though I'm part way through a Jonathon Kellerman one, I need to keep going back as I fall asleep very quickly. My thoughts are with the poorlies, the getting-betters and those inbetween. I hope that the sun which is shining here is also with you all.Happy Sunday.15 -
Morning Gers and everyone who follows
Hope your and your mum have a peaceful day
I woke at 5 and went back to sleep and it was quarter to 9! Will have to get a move on as I'm expected at mam and dads soon. Apparently he has a lot of 'jobs' for me to do.
I spent such long and boring day yesterday! I don't know how people manage to be on computers all day - after a couple of hours I could have just dropped off! I think six and a half hours was too long - and the sun was shining and I wanted to be outside! Never mind, next Saturday is just 3 hours then I still have to do 3 hours practical at some point but as these online courses have been running for months, I would expect there will be quite a backlog.
As soon as it was finished I was outside reading in the garden and ended up being out till after 7 as it was so nice.
I'd better get a move on - hope everyone has a good day15 -
Morning All
The sun is shining, washing on the line, shower cleaned and I'm showered and dressed for the garden! I'm going to make one of the borders slightly deeper today as the concrete from the fence posts keeps getting in the way of planting.
I woke up at 5 for a pit stop and stubbed a toe on the way back to bed - didn't manage to get back to sleep as it was quite sore. Now sporting a lovely black toe both on top and underneath.
Little one was asleep when she arrived yesterday, DD managed to get her from the car to bed without her waking up so she slept for an hour before lunch. She didn't ask for her Mum once, not sure if I should have told DD or not! We went for a walk to a new little playpark, she was tired on the way back and sat on the bridge refusing to move! Once she saw the steps she was off again, loves steps that girl.
I made a lovely Thai curry for lunch, seemed to be enjoyed by all, just a little left over for my dinner later, salad for lunch and hopefully I can eat in the garden.
Hope you have a peaceful day Gers, big hugs to you.
Thinking of the poorlies and those missing from here, have a peaceful Sunday. Take care. XX

Morning folks and thanks GERS for the new Daily. I hope today is a tranquil day for you and DM. It's nice you both have visitors too. Your little story about the notebook reminded me of a discussion in a recent tv period drama where the lady of the house was having a discussion about the menu with Cook! She was told to consult the book as to what the guests were served last time to make sure they weren't given the same again!
It was a beautiful start here so I stripped the bedding off to wash when I got up. Then I looked at the forecast and more showers are forecast. Grr where's it all coming from! It's still fine for now but not looking too promising so the washing is now adorning the upstairs!
I haven't given a thought to what I am eating today so will do a freezer "shop" after this and see what tempts me. I think there is still one portion of sliced beef in gravy left out there so that may be lunch with some roasties, veg and Yorkshires.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for our poorlies and poorly loved ones. Take care one and all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Gers and her Mum.
Iffy looking, DB says we are to get heavy showers, so be it.
I put the finished quilt on the line and photographed it. Niblet is coming with him Mum and Nanny (DD1) on Thursday to collect it.
No plans for the day will take it as it comes.
Pork steaks, roasties and veg for supper, strawberries and cream for dessert, I have some clotted cream I need to use up.

Morning all and thank you for starting Gers. I hope you and your Mum have a peaceful day.
At present it is not raining but rain is due. It has made a big difference to the garden and I'm collecting rain in buckets for when it dries up again.
Our DS was 30 yesterday, it is hard to believe how fast those years have gone.
Wishing everyone a decent day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13
