Hi! Has anyone had any experience with cash deposits? We've put a full application in for our mortgage, and they've questioned a couple of cash deposits into my account in the past 2 months. Basically we've sold a bunch of stuff (clothes, vintage toys, fishing books etc) to add into our funds. All via FB marketplace or gumtree & to friends. We've waited until we hit £1000 and then banked the cash. Obviously I can explain all this to the lender - but we won't be able to provide receipts as we've just took the cash on the doorstep and handed the item over.... Will this be an issue or will our explanation be ok?

Are you using that cash towards the purchase price?
  • Had similar recently and ended up sending screenshots of the sales pages to satisfy the concerns the underwriter had.    It was a much bigger amount though and im sure a simple explanation will suffice for that much

Was for Deposit yeah, although all together we have £23,000 in the bank and only need £17,000 for the deposit so could be argued its for moving costs sols instead?

Ah that's good that's what I was hoping as it isn't a massive amount in the grand scheme
