Census Job from Adecco. Clawing back 2 weeks of expenses when they were signed off by my manager.

I finished my temporary Census job at the end of April. I claimed expenses as I travelled by public transport. All of these were ok'd with my area manager. Now on my final holiday notice payslip they have deducted around £34 of expenses. (I uploaded proof of all of my expenses)
I have tried calling the helpdesk but they only forward my case to someone else. I later get an email telling me to contact my area manager but she only stayed on for 1 more week than myself. I think it is quite scummy of Adecco to claw back any money they can. If I had not looked at my payslip I would not have noticed. Have contacted them by email, phone and twitter but I think I may not get back what I am owed.

Were you entitled to the expenses you claimed or could your manager have authorised them in error?
If you are happy you are entitled to them, complain to Adecco. Hope you kept copies of receipts etc that you were claiming for.1 -

Reading your payslip should be (but rarely is!) automatic whenever you get one, so nothing underhand about what they've done: there it is in black and white.
On the other hand, if you were entitled to be paid these expenses, then you should be. Complain to Adecco, but be realistic about how quickly - or more accurately slowly - they will respond. They will be deal with a huge mass of 'final payslips' for those employed to deal with the Census, many of whom may well have queries about their payments.
If that doesn't work, give ACAS a call and ask their advice.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
Expenses could only cover travel within the survey area you were assigned to, rather than from home to survey area, so I presume your public transport claim was from home to survey area?0

The problem was they did not allow bus passes to be bought even though it works out cheaper than daily tickets. I heard a few other people were stung for the same reason.2
