Conveyancing fees

Hi, I am just wondering when I have to pay my solicitor? Is it usually before or after completion? We are staircasing a shared ownership property to 100% so it is classed as a remortgage. We didn’t require any searches. Up to now we have paid a £50 deposit but the total balance will be around £1300 and I am trying to budget for it and need to know how soon before or after completion they will be payable. Many thanks

It varies between firms. They should have told you when you got your initial fee breakdown when they would expect payment. Your best bet is to ask them to confirm.

Thank you very much, I have asked them a few questions in the past week and I am struggling to get a reply. Luckily I can see from the portal that the remortgage is progressing well and due to complete soon, as they don’t seem to take phone calls or reply to emails very often! You have been very helpful. I will double check our agreement and try and contact them again anyway.0

Solicitors will require payment before completion, they will send a completion statement and then you pay them.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1
