Change in Contract

Hi sorry to put this up as my first post..I have been lurking for a while! Now this is a strange question...My current employer has decided to change our contract from a monthly contract,IE we worked til the last Sunday of the month ,to we work on a calendar month. There is nothing at all in writing no emails or anything but we`ve been told we were working illegally! The odd thing is I have always had hours over my contract(37.5)and now all the staff i work with are struggling to get their contracted hours in!
I know I`m not very bright, but how does that work?
I used to be 150 hours on a 4 week month,!87.5 on a 5 week month, now its 162.5 and its hard to do those?i should say its a care compny

The numbers are correct so that in itself is a help. 8 Months x 150 & 4 months x 187.5 = 1950 Hours
1950 hours / 12 months = 162.5 average per month.
The easiest way around this is to ensure you work 1950 hours in the year (annualised hours) but get the same pay each month (162.5 hours) regardless of how many hours you actually do in February or March etc.1 -
Its just a bit odd,I`ve been doing this job for a very long time done the same or similar hours but now I`m not meeting my contract hours?0

Your employer should be in charge of ensuring the rosters for staffing meets safety and operational requirements. Were you organising your own rotas?0
