O/S Daily Tuesday 11 May 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, some cloud but sun trying to poke it's head out, air feels cool though.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was herb chicken with pasta in a tomato sauce - no LO's. Not sure what we'll be having tonight but will get something organised.
Yesterday work was very busy - and will expect similar today.
Keep safe and well x

Thanks NMLC for the start off and hello to all who follow.Woke up at silly o'clock after 2hrs sleep and I'm still awake, not feeling great tbh and can't say what's wrong as I just feel yuck. I will have a quiet day and see what unfolds. If I feel up to it the bathroom could do with a wipe over, but won't matter if it doesn't happen.dp1 I hope they have now sorted out your DD, bless her she's put up with a lot lately and I wish her a swift recovery.Hope everyone has a peaceful day.Take care all.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14

Morning All
Dry and windy at the moment, we had epic rain last night - I wondered what the noise was - sounded like a tap running! Hoping for a better day today but not holding my breath.
Hope your DD makes a swift recovery dp1.
Hugs to you and your DM Gers, hope you had a settled night.
Thinking of those not so well or with worries.
I felt decidedly ropey at work yesterday but managed the day, didn't go swimming as I had no energy so went to bed at 8.30 and slept surprisingly well.
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX12 -
Morning folks.Nan - sorry to read that you feel so rotten. Please rest up today.Dp1 - I hope the survey goes well today.Yesterday morning the first carers turned up two hours earlier than the ones last week. I was still in my pyjamas at 8.00am when the buzzer went. I didn't mind too much but DM was sound asleep and did not want to wake for them. They just checked her before leaving. When they came back at 12 noon they did the full bed bath thing. The earlier start worked well in the end as I was able to out after they left. I picked up new prescriptions, got to the building society and then dumped at load of stuff at the tip.The rest of the day was quiet again. DM mostly sleeps. The crisis of last week has passed. Things aren't great but it seems she's now on a slower journey.Today I'll be in the house, carers four times and the senior district nurse is due to visit too.My thoughts are with all those struggling.Dumpling - I hope you managed your short walk.Happy Tuesday to all.12

Good morning everyone
Thank you Gers, I did manage to get out...twice! Steve walked with me to the end of our row of houses and back in the morning and then suggested I did it again after dinner, so I did. My legs hurt today but it's a good pain as it shows there are muscles in them trying to work. Not sure about today yet but it's still early so I have lots of time to go out if I want to. I'm glad your mum had a settled night xx
I am going to make myself some kippers and bread and butter for breakfast before everyone gets up and complains about the pong. We have the last of the ready meals for dinner and then I am back to cooking. It's been a nice break though but I am happy now to use ingredients rather than a stab stab ping job.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC.It's fine here, though yesterday started fine and there was a spectacular storm when I was on my way home from Newcastle. I got wet when walking home from the bus stop, I'd forgotten to take an umbrella..My friend and I had a great day, it was lovely to see her. We chatted and laughed our way round the shops, and sat outside when the showers allowed.Nan I'm sorry to read that you feel a bit off, I know only too well about bad nights whrn you lie awake worrying about everything and everybody. Have a quiet day and you might nap later. I kept waking, but fortunately slept again. My Ds2 had to have surgery yesterday to re attach a tendon in his thumb that he'd sliced through with a Stanley knife on Sunday, so he's now off work for a while. He's ok but fed up about it, which I would be as well, he's now in a cast for a few weeks. At least it's his right hand and he's left handed. They numbed his arm from the shoulder down and he watched with great interest while it was done. He's never been one to jib at anything!Hoping that Gers and her mum have had a quiet night. Dumpling, did you do your walk?Thinking of the rest of our poorly people, there are quite a few at the moment, and hoping everyone has as good a day as they can.Take care folks.14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Lots of early birds on here this morning for one reason or another. I'm usually up by 6.00 as that's when Sparkle decides she can't wait any longer for her breakfast. I need to ring the vets when they open as her allergy is flaring up again and she seems to have a sore looking eye as well this time. Poor little puss cat.
I managed a bit of potting on yesterday but by heck there was a cold wind blowing and, despite the sunshine, it felt decidedly cold. Looking at the trees the wind seems to have calmed down this morning so I'll resume where I left off. After a thorough examination of the summer bulbs planted ages ago there at last seems to be a bit of life emerging!
DUMPLING I hope you managed your little walk but don't attempt too much too soon. Baby steps. DP1 your poor DD, she seems to go from one problem to another for one so young. GERS once the carers start coming your life doesn't seem your own does it, everything has to be planned around them. Thinking of you and your DM. NAN I hope you soon feel better. ((HUGS)) for all else in need be it through illness or worries and woes. Have a good day if you can folks and take care x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -

Thinking of you and your DM.Yes, it is rather restrictive as they come within a two or three hour window so nothing can really be planned. However, it's good for DM even if she mostly dozes through their visits.I forgot to write that the receptionist from the dental surgery rang me yesterday afternoon to offer me a cancellation for my implant surgery on Friday coming. I'm so pleased as waiting until July was disappointing.

Morning all. Bed late, up early...there'll be napping in my future today. We're socialdistancing cream tea-ing on Sunday, but I have refused the cream tea and now need to think of diet frindly picnic food so there's going to be a lot of recipe making up this week. Fritatta and eggs are going to feature heavily. And filo pastry bites of some sort along with chicken sandwiches. Oh well, it's all in a good cause, the good cause being less achy and wearing clothes that will otherwise never be worn.I spent a fair bit of time in the greenhouse yesterday potting on and today will be seed sowing as well, I'm very late to the party this year but I just don't seem to have any motivation. Although I did [or the machine did] four lots of washing yesterday and the tumble drier did three. If the weather wasn't being Jekyll and Hyde it wuld have gone on the line. And I have to fit in some Italian because I'm neglecting that too. Perhaps I should write myself a timetable. Being accountable to no one and nothing is obviously the cause. Could be worse though, could be hanging around all day in what passes for my PJ's...Oh...Hang on....Sorry about your poo sleep nanny, nana naps on the cards...Bella, it's all happening isn't it? Gers, sorry about your mum, but glad you have carers now to take some strain. TA, I did like that thing someone did [ memory problems anyone? No? Just me then] where they mapped out when the daffodils were in bloom from the bottom to the top of the country and counted the time in between them all. I wouldn't have realised there was such a big gap between the country from top to bottom before..Scarlet, ouch, bet that hurt! dumpling, well done for getting out and about! Hope everyone is tolerable or at least not driven to throw things around the house..Stay safe all.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11
