Proof of returning to Work letter / furlough for lender

My wife and I are trying to buy a house and are being held up by my wife’s employers.

We have a house with the offer accepted, mortgage in principle and all was well until due to being still on 80% furlough the lender has requested a letter from my wife’s employers stating her return in September. They are refusing to do this despite stating that her job is safe and new employees starting the company. They clearly are not in any financial trouble but will not provide the letter.

We are being held prisoners and can not proceed with our lives due to this and obviously my wife feels absolutely dreadful and mistreated as she is the only person still on furlough.

Is there anything I can do to get this letter from them? Any help or suggestions welcome.

Sorry but it sounds like they aren't bringing her back if they won't provide a letter. Otherwise why refuse? Have they put in writing anywhere else, like an email that her job is safe and she'll be returning? What is the reason they've given for keeping her on furlough if they're employing new staff? Not sure the government would be too happy with taking their money and taking on new staff, that isn't what furlough is for. Sounds a bit dodgy to me
  • Nothing else provided in writing. We have been chasing for 5 weeks and she has just received a letter with a 2% pay increase! Not the letter that we wanted.

I'd still send it to your FA and say, they're giving her an increase, they wouldn't do that for someone they aren't bringing back. See what happens?

don’t employers need to have already addressed their Intensions of their employees for September yet?

No, there is no requirement for the employer to do more than they have done in the message you attached.
