borrow or move

Hello there this is my first post, so please be kind! And any advice will be much appreciated,

in a nut shell we’re  mid 30s couple,  trying to make the best of our lovely little home, my wife and I talk about moving etc but I’d rather flip our place around and make our house lovely,  but could mean borrowing an extra 25k on the house, we have a good bit of money in the property, but borrowing don’t sit well with me.
my goal is to pay the mortgage ASAP as my job in construction will only get harder as I grow older. Please could anyone with any advice please help.
thank you all for reading

If you work in construction and have access to the knowledge and skills to improve your home why wouldn't you? £25,000 on materials should go a long way and by enhancing the property you will make it more attractive to purchasers in the long run. If you increase the mortgage you might get a better rate so monthly payments go down and you could continue to keep payments at their current level. Being mortgage free is a good aim but with planning you can achieve both. Similarly you could do up your home with the intention of moving in a set period of time and again by a property that needs improvement just remember to keep things neutral and buy good quality fixtures and fittings at the right time.

@masterpipe_3 Generally speaking, the cheapest way of accessing the (relatively small) amount required is likely to be additional-borrowing / further-advance for the purposes of home improvements from your current lender.

I think I just stress to much, I know we could save the money but I’m just abit impatient really, I’m trying to justify if it’s worth the interest, one minute I want to save the next I’m ready to borrow, it’s so hard!
