I need advise I work for a transport company my supervisor talks about me in a demeaning way in front of colleagues and also had made idle threats to beat me up. An example would be driving close to his car.
He is really starting to get under my skin but if I stand up to him either a fight starts or he makes my life hell he also keeps messing my wages up.I keep having to say where is my over time pay. I am in a real difficult spot and don't even want to go back to work. He is a little guy with a Hitler complex.I don't know if he is being serious or joking about.most of the time.He also likes telling management about things I have done. Which normally means I have to have interviews with managers. But if I hit him I get sacked what should I do. I keep having issues with him and its starting to make me hate working their even more than I do. What should I do. ?

Have you taken this to HR?
An example would be driving close to his car.
An example of what?
He is really starting to get under my skin but if I stand up to him either a fight starts
How many fights has he started with you and how many have you reported to the police?
or he makes my life hell he also keeps messing my wages up.I keep having to say where is my over time pay.
Do you now have all your overtime pay, or are still owed. Stop working overtime.

And what is the outcome? I'm guessing you have told them he doesn't pay you and has started fights with you?
But if I hit him I get sacked what should I do. I keep having issues with him and its starting to make me hate working their even more than I do. What should I do. ?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
report it and make a claim against employer (collect evidence)

"But if I hit him I get sacked" - errr.... no, you could be arrested for ABH! getting the sack would be the least of your worry, you could end up with a criminal record for attacking someone even if they are annoying you.
if he hits you first, then you are at liberty to defend yourself within reason, but i would not advise hitting him as a way to resolve this bullying. you are at not school anymore where you can hit the other boy without much repercussion except detention and a talk to by the headmaster.
if you feel he is bullying you, then speak to his supervisor / manager and explain how he treats you and bullies you. but i would also be looking for another job as working with someone like that will make your life miserable.0 -
AskAsk said:if he hits you first, then you are at liberty to defend yourself within reasonThere's no need to wait to be assaulted before defending yourself.Op, if you can demonstrate the relationship is as described, consider going to greivence.Would colleagues be likely to be supportive in terms of providing statements.

Have you (up to now) made any kind of formal complaint or raised a grievance? IF the employer isn't aware of his behaviour they can't deal with it.
When you say he keeps messing up your wages - how? Is he responsible for recording / reporting your hours? Again, if this is happening regularly you should talk to HR to see if there's an alternative way to record your hours or check they are input correctly (even if that means you reporting them as well as him, so they can cross checked correct ant any errors earlier)
For some things, the answer may be to change your own behavior - for instance, if doesn't like you driving too close to his car, stop doing it. You may be fine in that there's no danger of hitting it, but if you know it annoys him then just .. don't do it - don't give him the excuse to criticise you.
Does he behave this way to others? If so, it's worth seeing whether they will also raise grievances or speak to HR.
If not, it may be worth considering whether there are any ways in which you behave, or speak to him, which is different from how others do.
There's no excuse for bullying, but sometimes there is an issue of perception, where what you see as 'standing up to him' comes over as insubordination.
You say he likes telling management about things you've done. What sort of things? As a supervisor, his job is to manage you and to keep his own bosses informed, so it's normal and possibly even required that he tell them, especially if any f the things involve you doing things which are against their policies.
All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)1 -

Raise a formal grievance

What things would that be? Raise a formal grievance
Which normally means I have to have interviews with managers.
Did you mention being bullied and threatened during these interviews? If not, raise a formal grievance.
But if I hit him I get sacked what should I do.
Under no circumstances hit him first and raise a formal grievance.
I keep having issues with him and its starting to make me hate working their even more than I do. What should I do. ?
Raise a formal grievance.
If you are not prepared to fight this formally, your only option is to resign and look for work elsewhere.0 -
Pretty much what I posted on the 2nd reply too. It would be so helpful if the op came back and let us know exactly how the managers dealt with his issues in the meetings. We are all answering on so little info.juraj.kecso said:paul55555 said:I need advise I work for a transport company my supervisor talks about me in a demeaning way in front of colleagues and also had made idle threats to beat me up.

Yes raise a grievance, in fact my starting point would be to ask the person in question for a copy of the grievance procedure. You might find that alone brings about change, if not raise the grievance, it might not achieve anything in itself but it will make a record of the problem for future reference.0
