Change of career at 60. CEMAP qualification

Hi, I turned 60 few months ago and retired. Looking for something new to do and was interested in a CEMAP course. Question is: Am I tool old to do the course, get qualifications, and practice successfully? Any pointers would be gratefully appreciated.

Depends how long you want to go on working and how hard you're prepared to work. This is a competitive field (lots of people on this site asking about if they should, how do they become etc) and if you don't have contacts which would generate custom, it'll be very difficult. If you are hoping to sit and home and do the course, without undergoing any sort of on the job training, where would your clients come from? Or to put it another way: would you go to someone with zero experience for advice?

It sounds as if you are looking for something interesting and intellectually challenging. Would some sort of voluntary work (?Citizens Advice?) provide the new interest and mental stimulation you are seeking?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Thanks Marcon, really helpful advice. I've been a part-time property investor and can get lots of contacts through network meetings, etc. It properly would help me with my own refinancing and so on. You're right, I need some intellectual stimulation, and another £500 or so a month would pay for some luxuries! I have already applied for volunteer roles.
