Asking for my husband. He has a deferred civil service pension. He is approaching his NRA which is 60. They sent him a letter inviting him to claim his pension.
Question is can he claim this pension whilst working full time for an university (LGPS scheme retirement age is 67)
thank you

Yes. The tax payable on the civil service pension will depend on his other taxable income.1

Thank you for the replies. I will let him know. Even with this pension he will remain in the lower tax bracket I think0

There is no financial advantage in not claiming CS pension from 60.
If it did put him in higher bracket he could pay the excess into a SIPP.
Also if current employer allows salary Sacrifice may be worth looking into considering increasing pension contributions for the financial benefits.
