O/S Daily Sunday 9 May 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Sunny bright start to the day here, forecast for today is better than past few days - drying up underfoot as we've got lots of laying water.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was SM takeaway curry - enjoyed and none left. Today we have roast pork. I will organise pack ups once lunch is prep is done and the meat is cooking.
We'll have a chilled day as did what was needed yesterday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. It's a quiet morning here. I hope that means that everyone is having a lovely lazy day.Yesterday was relatively calm apart from a quick dash to the shops. Apart from the papers the carers asked me to get sudacreme so I managed to grab the last tub on the shelf. I've had to really encourage DM to drink, the nurse wasn't impressed with the tea-like stuff currently being produced. DM's friend came round to sit with her again. When the friend was here I decided to go out for a while. What a mistake, the roads were jammed in every direction. Not because of any roadworks or accidents, just sheer volume of traffic. For months there's not been anywhere to go which meant empty roads, now that we can go places again we can't blooming get there! As for today...who knows. DM is still asleep, carers due at about 10am so I'll get myself ready in time.My thoughts are with all our MIA's. I hope that today is a better day.Happy Sunday.14

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, enjoy your chilled day.
Thinking of you Gers.
Missing tru, Marie and Mehefin.
Got to the allotment yesterday and removed the potatoes, they are safely on the compost heap. Just as I was finishing the heavens opened and it didn't stop raining all day. It's better this morning with glimpses of sunshine but there are a lot of clouds about.
I had some visitors yesterday, they were on their way to the Isle of Skye. Good job I opened the laptop around 12 as there was a message from them saying what time they were arriving - I had forgotten all about it! Cue a rush round making pancakes and flicking the duster about just in time. They had their dog with them, such a beautiful and well behaved animal, I could have kept her!
So, shopping today as I didn't do it yesterday and I'll take a trip to a local nursery for plants for the hanging baskets, hopefully the weather will hold while I plant them up.
Enjoy Sunday if you can, take care. XX15 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting us off. It's a better start here too after all yesterday's rain. Even pockets of blue sky and sun! Thinking of you GERS and hoping today is a peaceful one for you and DM.
I have a gammon joint on for my lunch. Veg prepped and ready to go come lunchtime. . Another dish of diced veg waiting to make a big pan of lentil soup with the stock when the gammon is cooked. Like you MONNA I buy a gammon joint in preference to any other meat as it's so versatile afterwards.
It feels much milder this morning so, if it stays fine, I might pot up the perennials I bought the other day and chuck the ones that didn't survive winter in the brown bin.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of all our poorlies and poorly loved ones, especially GERS and DM,, MARIE and NELS. Take care one and all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Good morning, lovely blue skies after 2 days of pouring rain. Nothing much happening here, thoughts are with Gers and her mum, and our poorlies.
Hope everyone has a pleasant day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Morning everyone
Looks like it's going to be a nice day today - it rained all day yesterday. Eldest DD in Germany is expecting temperatures of 26 degrees today!
I've put washing in, but it will have to wait a bit to go outside, as I need to be down with dad by about 9.30. Mam is going back to church today - it's so long since she's been. Dad will have 'jobs' for me to do, including Dd's email to reply to.
Youngest DD is back in hospital - they think it's her appendix now! She'll find out this morning if she's having an operation. Little one is with her daddy but I'm expecting she'll be back with me by teatime.
I took her with me to vote on Thursday - she was very disappointed - 'Where's the boat granny? Me want to go on boat!' Vote/ boat - sounds the same if you're two!
Eldest DD asked if she'd had 'the suffragette talk' - I always took them to vote with me and they both knew that we had to vote because of the suffragettes.
Well I'd better move as I should leave in 10 minutes and I'm not actually dressed
Love to you and your mum Gers

Morning all
Dry and bright here, I have stripped the beds and got the bedding on a hot wash, it can be hung out once its done I love getting into fresh line dried bedding.
We had a bit of excitement yesterday we think someone stole a horse from the yard up the road, a man walked down the road and out of sight with a horse, no saddle or bridle just a lose thing round its neck, he reappeared minites later and tied the horse to our road sign and went off again, with that a horse box screached up and the man came back and he and two women bundled the poor horse into the box in a tearing hurry and screeched off, the man was being really rough with the horse and kept banging into it with his shoulder, the horse looked really panicky. I phoned the police and OH went out and managed to get the number plate, we did not approach them as they looked really rough iykwim, the police handler put me through to 999 and they took all the details and were going to try and apprehend them, we have heard nothing since so I hope the poor horse is ok.
We will get the dogs out somewhere nice for a good walk today and maybe take a sandwich with us, I have got a chicken for dinner and I think I will do mash and salad as its such a nice day, the dogs can have the picky bits from the chicken so they will be happy.
Gers glad mum had a good night would she drink lime cordial and sparkling water ? I found this really refreshing when I came out of hospital xxx
Have good days all xx14 -
Morning, had to sign in for some reason...... Gers hope today is a peaceful one for you. I know what its like trying to get someone to keep up their liquid intake, it can be very hard work.
Its quite 'muggy' out, have just been along to open my neighbours curtains, she is will not be home for another couple of days. They need to get a package in place for her first.
I have 72 lillte planlets to pot up this morning. I am going to pot them in 3's as I will plant them out, saves messing about with 72 very tiny pots.
The finger I cut open on Monday is gradually healing, I took the plaster off last night, will put it back on this morning and a rubber glove before I tackle the plants, no desire to get sepsis thank you.
I am half way round the quilt, will do an hour more after lunch. I realised yesterday that the quilter had taken the border off, I guess she could not get the backing to fit..........
So chicken for supper with veg, will have ice cream for dessert.9 -
Morning all, it's a bit grey here but not raining yet & much warmer. The park has developed a mini pond due to yesterdays rain and 2 Canada geese were floating along nicely
DGS football match was cancelled yesterday so he was a bit fed up.
Apart from that nothing much happening. We are having a turkey dinner later, some I froze after Easter's boned & rolled joint from the butcher, so it only needs reheating , the roasties and veg doing, job done.Trifle for after.RR- poor horse, I know there's a lot of dognapping but that's a whole new levelHope they find the thieves and the horse is ok.
Continued thoughts for all with worries, may youhave a peaceful Sunday x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)11 -
Morning all, well it's dry for now, yesterday was a complete wash out.My halogen oven is working again, Yay ! It was sent to the operation suite (the shed) given the kiss of life and a treble bypass and now seems better than ever, hope it lasts a few more years now. Seems it may have been a manufacturing fault but all praise to Mr Fix It for living up to his name again. However he did rip his wet weather coat when coming down from the shed, so that's been binned as there was zero chance of fixing that. I spoke to Dad last night and he said we could have his halogen oven as it's never been used, it's brand new and still boxed.More book reading today as I didn't finish it yesterday. I did watch the end of the film and I was no wiser when it finished. Maybe a bit of pottering around the house too ? Tea today will be roast pork roasties and veg.Gers would Mum lick an ice lolly ? Or suck a flavoured ice cube ? Hope you have an uneventful day. Hugs to you both.RedRuby I hope they get caught and the horse is ok.dp1 sorry that youngest in back in hospital, hope they can get to the bottom of things, things must be awful for her. I did laugh at the "boat" bit thoughNels hope you are ok and on the mend. I miss youCamelot Mehefin is on the Decluttering thread occasionally. Hope you enjoyed having your visitors yesterday.Hugs to all todayTake care and keep wellnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11
