Anyone travelling inter city in the coming week needs to check if their trains are still running as the high speed Hitachi 800 trains have been removed from service for checks after cracks found in the suspension.

This is certainly major here in the West Country with some people missing interviews and vaccine appointments.

It surprises me that rail companies are taking all of the criticism without being more robust in their responses.  They really should be presenting this as a safety issue which they are taking seriously and not pretending there is no problem as Boeing did with the 727 Max.  The blame should be redirected towards Hitachi who manufactured trains that appear to have an intrinsic fault.
