Help negotiating with Creditors

I would really appreciate any advice from anyone who knows how to negotiate a
settlement (directly*) with creditors – in this case, Arrow Global and ME11 (ME111).
I’m trying to understand the process and steps to follow as well as potential issues to watch out for while communicating with them. If there are any templates available even better. I’ve been informed that being debt purchasers with CCJs against the debtor these particular companies tend to be aggressive.
Unfortunately, the debts are not mine but former partner’s who has long relocated out of the UK. Not being the owner of the debt means I am unable to deal with the problem directly at its root or obtain help from debt support organisations. My only recourse is to try and reach a settlement with the creditors in order to get the restrictions on my home removed.
* and while I am trying to save on fees I don’t want to end up in a “penny wise pound foolish” situation. Is it possible to successfully engage directly or advisable to go through a 3rd party?
And if a 3rd party is advisable, who do I look to engage - a conveyancer, solicitor or CAB etc?
Many thanks in advance.

In my experience the debt purchasing comanies will not settle below the full amount onece a CCJ has been granted.
This is only my personal experience though. I'm sure somene more knowledgeable will come along if I am incorrect.0 -
