Feeling over worked...

Hi Folks,
I have been in my current job for around 2 years..and I feel like the management team is constantly putting pressure on myself and colleagues to work longer hours with no additional pay or benefits. We find ourselves often working 12 hour days most weeks. When we try to raise this with the management team they simply say 'we work long hours too so your expected to do it to'
What has annoyed me is the management team gives our clients the image that we are a 24/7 Team when we are only meant to be working Mon - Fri 9-5. I wouldn't mind working extra hours or weekends if I was compensated for this.

Also, as part of my employment contract it says 'you will be required to work occasional weekends with no additional pay'. I raised this when joining the company and was told this would never be enforced. I even tried to get this removed from my contract but they refused.
Previously working weekends has been very 'occasional' such as one Saturday every 2/3 months...However, recently the business has seen such a large demand that the management team want to put a rota in place. The rota will most likely require someone to work one weekend every month.
Would you say this is still 'occasional' ?
I do enjoy my job but sometimes I feel I am being taken advantage of, especially with Covid. Even when I was on annual leave I was told 'you can check your emails it's not like your going on holiday or outside the house'.
Is anyone else finding the same?

Is around 2 years less than or over 2 years? They can do what they want to you if it's under two years. After 2 years you have a bit of protection.
But at the end of the day if you don't feel you are being treated fairly then it's time to move on. Like an abusive relationship where you convince yourself that if only you talk to them they will realise their errors and will change - but they never do. Do you want to stay in that relationship or do you want to go out and find someone new? Does being single scare you? Do you think you will struggle to find someone new? These are thoughts that the abusers will prey on to make you stay, get them out of our head and get out of there. Unless of course the base pay is tasty and the extra unpaid hours are worth it.1 -
Work your contracted hours plus any weekend requirements in accordance with your contract. Do not check e-mails outside of working hours, or at least do not respond or react to e-mails outside working hours. In the mean time start looking for a new job as management are taking the proverbial.

Dividing your weekly or monthly gross pay by number of hours actually worked, does it take the amount per hour below National Living or Minimum Wage?
If so, your employer is acting illegallyIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales1
