The shift allowance is for working night shifts, unsociable hours and weekend. So surely regardless of time spent with a company is shouldn't matter and everyone should get paid the same? It takes its toll on each person's health.... do they value other people's life's compared to someone else's that does the same.job, hours etc?

As already said, unless there is definite discrimination against a protected group, it's entirely legal and quite normal to pay different people different allowances.
If you want to do something about it, you could start by joining a union and encouraging everyone else to do the same.Signature removed for peace of mind1
