BIK CAR FUEL COVID

in Cutting tax
Hi there
I have a company car with Fuel Benefit. Obviously during COVID GOV restrictions I could not use the Fuel Benefit so contacted the HMRC. They applied a prorata rebate at this time as I was furloughed. They then applied a further pro rata lack of use and then stated this would need backed up by the end of year P11D form from the employer zeroing BIK FUEL. My company are now dragging their heels 'rubber' stamping this. The P11D get sent sometime next month.
Question is where do I stand if I get left in the cold here, my company never informed any knowledge of key hand back or such like. The car has a tracker on it so can be seen to have basically no BIK Fuel. Footnote: HMRC are now saying that their employees should not have carried out a pro rata on the BIK FUEL and are now not standing by their own errors if my company wont submit zero on the P11D form. I fear a massive TAX bill for no error on my part. Any advice would be great.

Ultimately your tax is almost certainly going to be based on what the P11D shows.
If you disagree with that all HMRC will do is advise you to get your employer to file a revised/corrected P11D.
So in this situation focus your energies on your employer not HMRC as they simply react to the information your employer supplies.0 -
I have been on at them for the last 8 months, stalling like a broken old car......................0
