With the small value it is there is no point in reading books on possible investment strategies as that will just confuse you and would be totally unnecessary.
However some better general understanding of pensions and personal finance is never going to be a bad thing , so as a starter you can look at this link .

There is EVERY point in reading this book. It will help the OP understand more about how SIPPs work, the difference between the pension wrapper and the funds, and what things like drawdown are. It is not a book specifically on investment strategies, that may be for later, you will note that I did not recommend the Edwards book on DIY investing.dunstonh said:With the small value it is there is no point in reading books on possible investment strategies as that will just confuse you and would be totally unnecessary. The product you have is out of date compared to modern options but that doesn't mean you should change it. Yes, you can get cheaper but you cant get guaranteed funds. So, you need to decide what is best for you. If you do decide to transfer you would almost certainly be best using simple options just as you are now.
The OP is not in a position to decide what's best for them until they have a bit more knowledge.0 -
It is always worth building up some basic understanding IMO, if only to make more sense of discussions if you decide to use an IFA

            Thanks for your input folks!
I definitely feel I would be in a better position if I read up a little to gain a clearer basic knowledge and appreciate the signposts with this!
The SL WP fund has a minimum guaranteed growth rate of 0%. Does that make it a fund worth holding on to?
