Yes I agree with you about the optional bit, that could be phrased much better than the inference that it’s no different to when it’s optional to give your phone number when you order something.
the good news however is that the charity came back to me today to advise that they’ve checked with the CAF & they can reverse the gift aid on one of my donations & they’re going to contact me when it has been done. So i think the right thing to do will be to donate that amount to them in this financial year as a thank you for sorting it.
