Negotiating salary

The people at the top of the CS are in the same pension scheme as those at the bottom. They get a higher pension because they are on a higher salary not because the scheme is betterTELLIT01 said:The person asking you to put forward a figure almost certainly wouldn't be the person making the decision and may have thought there was some flexibility. The reality is that the Civil Service really isn't any better to work for than any other organisation, public or private. Only those at the top of the tree get things like gold plated pensions, and it is their numbers which artificially skew the average salary figures.0 -
I think the Civil Service pension is a lot more generous than what you get with most private companies, so that's worth taking into consideration.
Sometimes they advertise jobs at multiple locations and the top figure is only available for a London position, however good you are.0 -
That is simply no longer true. There were at least 3 different schemes in operation when I was at DWP. Access to them depended on when you joined the Civil Service.Andy_L said:

Everyone is now (or will be very soon) in Alpha. Accrued benefits in older schemes remain but all current accrual is or will soon be in Alpha.TELLIT01 said:
